West House

We have two ground floor apartments at West House – The Courtyard and The Studio.
- The Courtyard has its own private access with a threshold of 55mm
- The Studio is accessed from the main entrance door with a threshold of 50mm
The Loft and The Roof Terrace are accessed via the main stairwell which has a handrail on both sides
The entrance doors have an opening of 72cm wide, corridors are over 90cm wide and internal doors are 82cm wide
All apartments have level access throughout, with open plan kitchen living areas.
All apartments have hard floor throughout. Carpets are only present in the main stairwell and all rugs are placed under beds and sofas to prevent slipping but are not stuck down at the corners.
Space between the side of the beds and the wall is a minimum of 60cm
There is plenty of space for cots in all the bedrooms with the exception of bedroom 2 in The Courtyard.
- Cots are provided with prior notice as part of the baby pack.
Kitchen worktops are at a height of 94cm
- Microwave ovens are located under the worktop

The Loft has patio doors and glazed juliette balconies
- The living room balcony is over a small flat roof with gaps of 8cm high between the glass and the flat roof below.
- The bedroom balcony has a gap of 6.5cm wide between the door threshold and the glass – please be aware of this with little ones (see photo)
- The roof terrace has a glazed balustrade system with gaps of 8cm between the flat roof and the glass

Walk-in showers with low profile trays are provided in all flats. The tray is a maximum of 5cm off the floor.
The walk in space of the shower is a minimum of 50cm wide
There are no baths in any property. Baby baths are provided in the baby pack.
Taps in the bathrooms are single lever mixer taps
Showers have thermostatic mixer valves at a maximum of 133cm from the tray to the centre of the valve.
Rainshower heads are supplemented with accessible shower heads on a hose at a height of 110cm above the tray
There are no grab handles in the bathrooms
All toilets and basins are wall hung.
The Studio has only a small hand rinse basin in the bathroom

The main entrance into the apartments is off the narrow driveway and over a small door threshold of between 50mm & 55mm. Please be aware of cars as you exit the building.
The Courtyard has its own private entrance door.
The Courtyard has a step down of 19cm into the courtyard garden from the living area, through patio doors.
- Access into the courtyard garden from the parking area is via steps
- The courtyard garden has patio slabs which are slippery when wet
The Roof Terrace has a small roof garden with composite decking and can be slippery when wet.

We will ask you about your vehicle so that we can arrange parking accordingly.

There are four parking spaces in total with two at the rear and two at the front of the property. One space per apartment.
- The two spaces at the front of the property are good sizes but manoeuvring is very tight for larger vehicles, these spaces are more appropriate for smaller cars Please park courteously to allow maximum manoeuvring space for the neighbouring vehicle.
- The two spaces at the rear are a good size with plenty of manoeuvring space. Access to the rear is between two buildings (No. 38 and West House) and although big enough for a large van, it is tight – please drive slowly and carefully to avoid damage to wing mirrors.
- The driveway is 245cm at its narrowest.
Parking bays will be allocated on a first come first served basis with disabled vehicles taking priority. Free parking is available further up the road and if necessary we will provide you with a map indicating where you are able to park prior to your arrival.
Parking bays at the rear of the building are more suited to disabled parking providing more space than at the front of the property.
- Please ensure you tell us of any individual needs so that we can arrange the parking accordingly
The parking area at West House is ramped up away from the public footpath and highway.
There are no gates between the parking area and main highway.
At night time the driveway and the parking area is lit up by bollard lighting and wall lights on the building

The route into town is on footpaths from the front of the property straight on and through the Westgate Towers onto the main highstreet, this involves crossing a lot of side roads on the way, there are many zebra crossings to assist in crossing the roads safely. The walk into the centre of town is approximately 15 minutes.

Canterbury West train station is a 10-minute stroll from West House, just under half a mile away. There is a taxi rank outside the station entrance.
Canterbury East train station is a 25-minute walk from West House through the town centre, just over one mile.
